The problem

What Tevera does well, and where it stops for ASWs

Tevera keeps working after you graduate. Your account moves to alumni status at no extra charge. Your field placement records are already in it. Your supervisor signs electronically on a free account. On the LMFT and LPCC tracks it prints California's weekly report too.

It doesn't cover the ASW track. There's no California weekly log for ASWs and no Experience Verification form. On this track that lands harder than on the other two. No pre-degree hours count toward your 3,000, and your field placement doesn't reach it. Every hour you're about to earn is post-degree. So you'd spend the entire count in the one phase Tevera has nothing for. And you'd build the Board's two forms by hand.

SparkHours fills the ASW weekly log and the Experience Verification form. Your supervisor signs both from an emailed link. It also watches the numbers this track runs on. What SparkHours adds for ASWs

The ASW forms, filled in

SparkHours fills form 37A-638, the ASW weekly log, from the hours you already logged. It builds your Experience Verification form out of the weeks your supervisor already signed. That's one form per supervisor and work setting, the way the Board of Behavioral Sciences asks.

Which hours land in the 2,000

Clinical Social Work Services means clinical psychosocial diagnosis, assessment and treatment. That isn't the same as direct client contact. Client-centered advocacy is client-facing, and the Board still files it as non-clinical. So it eats your 1,000-hour ceiling instead of counting toward your 2,000. Your supervision time comes out of that same ceiling, which is tighter here than on the other two tracks. SparkHours keeps a running total of each while you log.

Who supervised each hour

At least 1,700 of your 3,000 hours have to be under an LCSW, and 13 of your 52 individual or triadic supervision weeks too. Every hour you log carries the supervisor who signed it and the license they hold. That floor isn't something you reconstruct at the end.

No. On the LCSW track no pre-degree hours count toward the 3,000. The earliest hour you can count is the day your degree is awarded. That only works under the Board of Behavioral Sciences 90-Day Rule. It needs your application in on time and your Live Scan done first. Otherwise your count starts the day your ASW number is issued. That's different from the LMFT track, where up to 1,300 pre-degree hours can count.

Yes, in both. Tevera supervisors sign its reports on a free account. You can suggest a site and supervisor from outside your school. With SparkHours your supervisor gets a secure link by email, reviews the week, and signs. There's no account to create on their end.

At least one unit in any week you log experience at a setting. Two units in any week you provide more than 10 hours of direct clinical counseling there. The Board defines that as clinical psychosocial diagnosis, assessment and treatment. One unit is one hour of individual or triadic supervision, or two hours of group. You need 104 supervised weeks in total. At least 52 of them need an hour of individual or triadic supervision.

More than on any other track. At least 1,700 of your 3,000 hours have to be under the supervision of an LCSW. At least 13 of your 52 individual or triadic supervision weeks do too. That 1,700 is a floor, not a cap, so an LCSW can supervise all 3,000. Above it your supervisor can also be an LMFT, LPCC or licensed psychologist. A physician certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology counts too. A licensed educational psychologist can supervise at most 1,200 hours, and only educationally related mental health services.
