## What Track Your Hours does well, and where it stops

Track Your Hours does the basics right. It logs your hours and sorts them into the categories the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) uses. It warns you when a week looks short on supervision. SparkHours follows one board and three license tracks, which is what lets it go deeper on all three.

Inside California, the gap is the signature, and it opens every week. Their help center article was updated on 13 April 2026. It says supervisors "won't be able to electronically sign forms in Track Your Hours." So you download the form, print it, chase your supervisor, and scan it back. The Board asks for at least 104 supervised weeks. That's 104 rounds of print, sign and scan. There's no supervisor account anywhere on their site to shorten it. Two more things need a workaround. A second license track means a second free account on a second email address. Their support has to waive the charge. And the app works your practicum status out from the dates you type instead of asking you. So your own program's rules can't go in.

SparkHours closes every one of those inside one account. Your supervisor signs from an emailed link and never creates an account. LMFT (marriage and family) and LPCC (professional clinical counselor) sit in one login with separate totals. Practicum and associate run as two phases, and the rules change on your graduation date. Your program can carry its own rules on top of ours. Your Track Your Hours data comes across with you, and the weeks you already logged stay logged.

## Side-by-side comparison

**Track Your Hours**

- Logs your hours, sorts them by category, and warns you about a short week
- Supervisors can't sign electronically in the app, in their own words
- One license track per account, so a second track means a second account
- Nothing to bring hours in from another tracker
- Paid a year at a time, up front, with no refund on unused time
- Cancel and your data goes with the account

**SparkHours**

- Your supervisor signs from an emailed link. No account, no printing, no scanning.
- All three California tracks: AMFT to LMFT, APCC to LPCC, ASW to LCSW
- LMFT and LPCC tracked together in one login, with separate totals
- Practicum and associate rules applied by date, from your graduation date
- A built-in importer for your Track Your Hours account
- $10 a month, so you can stop after any month and keep your records
- An in-app assistant that answers Board questions against the real handbooks

## What SparkHours does differently

**Your supervisor signs from an email.** Send a week for signature and your supervisor gets a secure link. They read the hours, sign, and the signature lands on the Board's form. They never create an account, and it usually takes under a minute.

**Your Track Your Hours data comes with you.** The importer takes your email, your password and a date range. Your logged hours arrive with their date, category, site and supervisor. So do your sites, your supervisors and the day your week starts. You retype nothing.

**Two license tracks, one login.** LMFT and LPCC sit side by side. Each gets its own totals, its own progress and its own forms. One subscription covers both.

**Practicum rules, not only associate rules.** Enter your graduation date and your associate registration date. The supervision rules and the hour caps switch themselves on the right day. A training program can carry its own rules instead of the defaults.

**The Board's forms, filled in.** SparkHours fills the weekly log for AMFTs, APCCs and ASWs. It also fills the Experience Verification form, which totals one supervisor and one setting for your application. Both come from the hours you logged and the weeks your supervisor signed.

**An assistant that reads the handbooks.** Ask what counts, what doesn't, and why a week looks short. The answers come from the Board's own published handbooks. It can see your hours too, so the answer fits your situation.

## Pricing, side by side

Their multi-year plans cost less per year than ours. The trade is paying it all up front, with no refund. Most people can't time their licensure on day one.

**Track Your Hours: $89.95 a year.** Paid up front. 30 days free, no credit card.

- Two years for $159.95, which works out at $79.98 a year
- Three years for $199.95, which works out at $66.65 a year
- Hour logging, category tracking and supervision warnings
- BBS form export you print and take to your supervisor
- No refund on unused time, in their own words

**SparkHours: $10 a month.** Or $100 a year. 14 days free, no credit card.

- Stop after any month, and your records stay put
- All three California tracks: AMFT, APCC and ASW
- Supervisor e-signatures from an emailed link
- The weekly log and the Experience Verification form on every track
- Practicum and associate rules applied by date
- LMFT and LPCC in one account
- The Track Your Hours importer, and your remaining paid time honoured

## Frequently asked questions

### Where do I sign in to Track Your Hours?

Not here. Track Your Hours is a different company, and you sign in on their own site. SparkHours is a separate California hour tracker, and this page compares the two side by side.

### Is Track Your Hours free?

No. Track Your Hours gives you 30 days free with no credit card. After that it's $89.95 a year, or $159.95 for two years and $199.95 for three. SparkHours gives you 14 days free with no credit card, then charges $10 a month or $100 a year. Neither one has a permanently free plan. [See what a SparkHours plan includes](/pricing).

### Can I move my hours from Track Your Hours into SparkHours?

Yes. SparkHours has a built-in importer. You give it your Track Your Hours email and password, plus a date range. It brings over your logged hours by date, category, site and supervisor. Your sites, your supervisors and the day your week starts come too. You don't retype anything. Pick "First import" on a fresh account and it overwrites anything that overlaps. Pick "Add missing hours" and it fills the gaps instead. That one leaves your existing entries exactly as they are, so running it twice doubles nothing. Signatures you already collected stay on the copies you already have.

### Will I be paying for both at the same time?

No. Track Your Hours doesn't refund unused time. So when you import, SparkHours reads your paid-through date and doesn't bill you until it passes. That covers up to two years of remaining time.

### Can my supervisor sign in Track Your Hours?

Not inside the product. Their help center article was updated on 13 April 2026. It says supervisors "won't be able to electronically sign forms in Track Your Hours." It tells you to download the forms and get them signed outside the app. There's no supervisor account or supervisor portal anywhere on their site. In SparkHours your supervisor gets an emailed link, reads the week, and signs. They never create an account. [Here's how supervisor signatures work](/e-signatures).

### Can I track two license types in one Track Your Hours account?

No. Track Your Hours states there's "no way to log hours toward LMFT and LPCC licensure in one TYH account." You open a second free account on a different email address. Their support has to waive the charge on it. SparkHours tracks LMFT and LPCC in one login, with separate totals for each.

### What happens to my hours if I cancel Track Your Hours?

Their help center says that once your account is canceled, "all of your data will be immediately and permanently deleted." It tells you to print out all your weekly summary forms first. Export or print before you cancel anything, wherever you track.

### Does Track Your Hours handle practicum hours?

It has a "Trainee in practicum" status. It works that status out from the dates you enter rather than asking you. It also applies the pre-degree caps on the LMFT track. What it doesn't do is let you enter your own program's rules. And California LPCC accounts don't accept pre-degree hours at all. SparkHours runs practicum and associate as two phases, each with its own rules. Your program's own rules can sit on top of those. [Here's how practicum tracking works](/practicum).
