# SparkHours vs Tevera for AMFTs If you are an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) tracking hours toward LMFT licensure, this page compares SparkHours and Tevera across the things that matter on the AMFT track. Tevera details were checked against Lumivero's published pages on 24 August 2026. ## Overview Tevera is now called Experiential Learning Cloud, and it is sold by Lumivero. Graduate programs across many disciplines license it, and students buy access as enrolled students of a program that uses it. It does not shut off when you graduate: your account moves to alumni status and you keep logging hours in the same database you used in practicum. SparkHours is bought by you, not by your school. It is built for one board and three California license types, so the AMFT hour rules are applied in the product rather than left to you. ## LMFT-Specific Requirements AMFTs pursuing LMFT licensure must complete: - **3,000 total hours** of supervised experience - **1,750 hours of direct client contact** as a minimum within that total - **500 hours with couples, families, and children**, counted inside the 1,750. This subset is unique to the LMFT track - **No more than 1,250 non-clinical hours**, and supervision comes out of that same 1,250 - **At least 104 weeks** over which the experience is gained - **Up to 1,300 pre-degree hours** may count toward the 3,000, with no more than 750 of those being counseling and direct supervisor contact combined - **Supervision requirements**: as an associate, 1 unit in any week you log experience at that setting, and 2 units in any week with more than 10 hours of direct client contact there. In practicum, a 5:1 ratio: 1 unit per 5 hours of direct client contact at each setting, and never fewer than 1 unit in any week you log experience there - **Weekly supervisor signatures** on hour logs One unit of supervision equals one hour of individual or triadic supervision, or two hours of group supervision. LMFT is the only one of the three California tracks where pre-degree hours count toward the 3,000.
